Chapter 2: El Maíz 18 stands apart. From ONE single barrel—picked out of many because it had something special. After 18 years spent resting in a bourbon barrel and then a tequila barrel at its home distillery, we gave it some very special attention. We re-barrelled it into a fresh, premium tequila barrel under a watchful eye here at Paradigm, letting it soak up all that agave magic, infusing an energetic layer to the nose and palette of this already well aged whisky.
Our Notes: Bold and layered with vibrant, green agave notes, balanced by the warm, caramelized sweetness of the barrel’s influence. You’ll catch hints of freshly cultivated agave, citrus peel, and a touch of vanilla—an echo of the tequila cask. The intense evaporation has amplified the richness of the whisky, creating a mouthfeel that’s both smooth and full-bodied, with just the right amount of spice by way of white pepper and oak to make each sip something more to think about and enjoy.
